TRAPPED.
(based on a true story from Jessica Chew)
no not based, it IS true!
I was feeling extremely exhausted. Training really took away all my energy, and having had lunch made me feel exceptionally sleepy. I was in my bus, the only bus available that goes back to my house. The Double Decker Bus 86! I will never forget that bus! Soon, I was swept to dreamland, oblivious about my surroundings. Reality fade away and I was peacefully resting...
Suddenly, there was a sound! The air-con above me and the lights turned off! I jerked awake only to find the bus I was in was in darkness! My instinct was to run down the stairs to the first floor of the bus. The bus was nicely parked in a lot in the interchange... but the engine was turned off and the bus driver was no where to be found! I was trapped! I was locked in the bus! There was no buses next to the one I was in! For the first time in my life, I felt the sense of being lost and vulnerable and... yes, trapped! Like a bird in a cage!
I called my mum, and she was in disbelieve! All she could say was, "Ahyo, next time don't sleep on the bus." and she laughed. But I was still trapped! I called Amanda. She lives in Sengkang and near that horrible interchange. She laughed really hard and as comforting as she could be, she said, "If you're still trapped there after half an hour, I will go there and save you!" Now, that was very comforting.
Then, a miracle came! A bus parked next to my bus! It turned on all its lights and the bus driver checked that no passengers are still on the bus... something my bus driver clearly didn't accomplish! And so, I was jumping and pounding on the bus windows, trying desperately to get his attention even though I probably acted like a monkey in its enclosure. He didn't see me! I tried doing more elaborate actions like a big wave! The driver was concentrating on sweeping his bus! From the front to the back to the front again, he still failed to see me!
I was desperate. I have been trapped for more than 15 minutes! I went up to the driver's seat. I wanted to look for a button to open the door but I was afraid I'd do something worst! Then I saw the tiny window and I really wanted to crawl out! But the Lord has eyes! The driver saw me when he came down from his bus to empty his dust pan! His expression was priceless! It was as though he saw a ghost! I gestured that I am trapped and I want to get out. He walked over to the bus and pressed a button! Oh, the automated door opened! I saw the light! Finally, I was saved!

And so, children, the moral of the story is:
Never sleep on buses!
Thank you for your kind attention.
